Lots of autumn news from Horizon Music Group
9.30.10
Fall brings 4 new releases to the HMG catalogue, all of which share a link to Horizon Music Group's studio's and producer/engineer Vic Steffens.
HMG is proud to release Steffens' remastering of the classic 1975 recording of Thunderhead, produced by Johnny Winter with help from brother Edgar. On the progressive side of southern rock, Thunderhead features the vocal, harmonica and flute of lead vocalist Mike Dagger, and the explosive drumming of the great Bobby "T" Torello. "Thunderhead '75" is available in hard CD copy at the HMG store, and is available for download at all internet outlets. A full release is slated for next year. Marc Douglas Berardo's "Downhauler" CD enhances HMG's growing Americana catalogue. Produced by Horizon regular Dick Neal, with considerable recording mixing and mastering by Vic Steffens, "Downhauler" showcases Berardo's insightful songwriting, crossing the genres of folk, Americana and light rock with ease. Typical to Dick Neal productions, a savvy group of musicians support Berardo's acoustic guitar and vocal, framed by a lush mix and mastering from Steffens. Visit MarcDouglas.com for more information.
The debut album by Mr. Isaac Allen drops on October 16th with a CD party at Middletown's Buttonwood Tree Arts Center. A unique blend of Tom Waits, Dr. John and Randy Newman, Allen's baritone delivers lyrics far beyond his 26 years. The crack band features standout jazz drummers Matt Wilson and Artie Dixson, bassists Dave Livolsi and Steve Klunk, co-producer Matt Ostreicher and Allen on keys, Kris Jensen, Bill Holoman and Dave Buscello on horns, and Stacy Phillips and Dick Neal on dobros and acoustic guitar. Gwen Henderson and Sara Joy add just the right sweetness to Allen's gruff baritone. Produced by Vic Steffens and Matt Ostreicher, and mastered by Jim Chapdelaine, this CD is a Connecticut tour de force. For more, visit MrIsaacAllen.com.
Pastor Chris Edwards powerful "No More Glass Ceilings" CD continues Horizon's long standing partnership with Connecticut's ourstanding Gospel community. Recorded live at the late Bishop Kenneth Moales Cathedral of Faith in Bridgeport CT, Connecticut's finest musicians drive home pastor Edward's dynamic compositions. The recording by Horizon's Vic Steffens and Steve Klunk captures a deep worship atmosphere in the tradition of earlier Horizon gospel recordings from The East Coast Regional Mass Choir, Youthful Praise, and Deon Kipping and New Covanent.
